Hi. Listening to an old movie on TV and working on my blog and working on my Etsy site. Like to multi task.  I guess you will have to tell me if splitting my focus three ways was successful.

I went to see The Front Runner over the weekend, mostly to see what Hugh Jackman could do with the part. Heard it could be an Oscar contender. Personally I would like to see Hugh Jackman get an Oscar, he is such a great talent. So much fun to watch, on many levels.  Great hair, and he can sing and dance. What more do you need?

Back up a step. Hair, dancing and singing is the extent of greatness?  Not so.  Zac Efron (also very cute and great at the dancing/singing thing) was in the Greatest Showman along with H.G. and H.G. dominated.  H.G. just does.  He fills up the room, adds a spark, creates a layer of fun and sincerity that is invigorating.  He loves what he does and it shows.

The Front Runner is chock full of interesting characters who talk very fast.  Not sure it is Oscar worthy but it is worth the 2 hours.  I will watch it when it comes to Netflix.  I won't buy it. Buying it is the pinnacle that any movie can attain in my world and it is limited to those movies that I will binge watch.  To rate this movie on a scale of
1 = would smash the CD if I was offered it for free
  to
5 = I want to be buried with this movie,

I would rate The Front Runner as a 3.5 which means I will happily watch it again for free.

Now, I want to see A Star is Born because of the two stars and it appears to be a good movie and it has been in the theaters for such a long time that it must be a good movie.  My hesitation is that it is billed as a ROMANCE and I do not pay money to watch ROMANCE movies.  I do not buy ROMANCE books and I do not watch ROMANCE movies unless I am desperate for entertainment and there is NOTHING ELSE ON THE TV.  I do have other options during this, the holiday season. We will see which side of me wins.

The Girl in the Spider's Web

So I went to a movie today that I did not expect to like.  Why do I do that? Why pay money for a movie (I like going to the movie theater) that I probably won't like?
Good question.  The answer:  because I saw the first movie in the series and I am hoping the second one will be better. I love the books, I would like to love the movies also.
The Girl in the Spider's Web is not at the top of my list of favorite movies but not at the bottom either. As a 2 hour expenditure of my time it was worth while.  However, I will say that I bought only a drink and no candy or food as I did not want to spend that much money on it.
I like my movies to surprise me.  The best ones keep me guessing through most of the movie. Some plot points were interesting enough and betrayals were inevitable and you could see them coming but this was not a buzz kill.  I did expect to see James Bond come strolling through to get some pointers from Lizbeth on how to deal with bad guys but that just added to the suspense so good going there. We saw the car chase, driving the motorcycle into the river, buildings blowing up, leap from a tall building, and cool gadgets.  Lizbeth can evidently procure anything she wants in a short period of time, she asks and it magically appears. Nice to have friends.
Long story short, it was worth watching.  If you like a little mayhem and some very smart people in your movie then this is the one for you.

Hi. My first post was in December 2017 and it was so much fun and so cathartic. I did not believe anyone would be interested in my thoughts and feelings and it turns out I was right. So I can say whatever I want on this blog without fear that anyone will actually read it.

Since the name of my blog refers to movies and TV I will stick with this theme until I can think of something better to write about.  I am hooked on Games of Thrones, Forged in Fire, Days of Our Lives and English murder mysteries on PBS.  Although I hear that there are a lot of shows with great reviews that I should watch to advance my social and cultural knowledge (and be able to complete crossword puzzles) I refrain from getting involved in these shows because they will then demand that I spend my spare time watching them.  (Also I can search the Internet for any answers I need on the crossword puzzles.) I would rather be doing something else.  So I ignore them and spend my time reading or doing work around the house or yard work or doing my day job at night when I get home from work.  As you can see I do not have a social life but I give myself points because I do not use the TV as a fill-in for a friend.  I am content to wander through life on my own.  My own head is very noisy, I don't need someone adding to the clatter.  I have two cats who are very special to me.  I live with family members who are very special to me.  When they are not around I am not lonely. I value my time to myself because this is the time when I can rearrange the clutter in my head and make it reasonable and sane.  Being around people all the time just adds to the clutter.  I need space to deal with it all.

I deviated from my theme.  Somehow I started talking about me instead of movies or TV.  I promise that I will not make it a habit.  But you did get a little insight into me.  Did you find it interesting? Do you know someone who might feel the same as I do?  Being an introvert in an extrovert world can be a drag on the self esteem.  Be kind to those of us who are shy and withdrawn.  We are not bad people, just a little overwhelmed.

I am helping my relative open an Etsy shop.  Quite interesting and I hope very lucrative.  It will help her with her education expenses if we actually get some sales.  Exciting stuff.

We also have a wedding coming up, birthdays, surgeries, and vacations in our immediate family.  Going to be a busy end of the year.  No births imminent, mores the pity.  A smiling, pooping little bundle of joy would be a great Christmas present.

HBO had a season 7 Game of Thrones marathon on Saturday.  I had to watch. Season 7 was great and frustrating at the same time.  A lot happened, some things expected (Dany and Jon got together, Jon Snow is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne) and unexpected (Sansa had Littlefinger killed) and the end was jaw dropping.  The dead dragon melting the Wall, way to go HBO.  There was a lot of the story where you had to suspended disbelief because of the time travel thing.  How did Samwell Tarly get from the Citadel to Winterfell so quickly? He was here then he was there. How did the heroes get from Dragonstone to the North so quickly? I don't think teleportation was available.  I could go on but you get the point.  The official explanation is that the scenes, although in the same episode, were not necessarily in the same time frame.  Trying to keep that in mind as I watch.  The analyst in me gets twitchy when reality is bent too far.

But this is really beside the point.  There was a lot of storytelling in season 7.  The last viable remaining contestants for the Iron Throne are being herded to the finish line.  Personally I do not believe that the ultimate ruler of the 7 Kingdoms will be Cersei, Dany or Jon.  I believe it will be Sansa or Tyrion or possibly Jaime but I think Jaime is a long shot.  I am rooting for Sansa.  With her brother the three eyed raven and her sister the assassin Sansa will be hard to beat. I am betting that Jaime will have to kill Cersei to save ???  He is going to be a father again. Can he kill the baby too?

Who is your prediction for the owner of the Iron Throne?
